a quick update:

my doctor told me my cholesterol is SUPER super high, 8.95 and my fat per cent is also much too OVER, 14 as usual girls while i got it 27, so i needa add in oats into my diet,

that’s what i was told,

so? just FOLLOW.

holiday and coffees

ok i actually just wanna give one more comment about this, and that’s:Image

best combination of raisins, pumpkin seeds and eggy cream. moist, fluffy and softest bread pudding i’ve ever tried, super tasty and one portion is absolutely not enough.

then i wanna report what i’ve done on this saturaday-y holiday, mom and dad were there, so of course, dad came into my room super early and woke me AGAIN,

he’d always like that, becuz he sleeps early while he would say that’s your fault to sleep such late so you get too little sleep when he wakes you early ,

yes that’s my fault. then we went to have breakfast out there, we ordered eggs, deep fried fish and bread/turnip cake, and i tried their YIN YIANG and milk tea,

which the milk tea was surprisingly good and actually, SUPER TASTY, the tea leaves were good, and the milk add silkiness, yum.

then we went bowling, my highest score is only ninety two today, maybe it’s too early for me and i was still too tired. i was sad of this non-improvement.

after bowling, mom went home for washing hair while dad went to public library, so i went pageone and bought three different flavors of chocolate from taste inside festival walk.

i chose dark chocolate mousse which was too sweet, fifty per cent chocolate which was a bit less sweet and lastly, espresso chocolate, which was the best. though when i tasted it, it was already melty, but i loved that coffee-y taste,

not too strong but like coffee with chocolate, mocha:)

then i met mom at four oclock and shopping in mong kok, we chose two dress and went into a sushi restaurant, eat again.

i non-stop drinking japanese tea, while mom was actually super hungry, so she started ordering food.

for dinner we went for broccoli fried fish fillet, with soup and rice, quite good while hk$47 for two was quite a good price.

we did some more shopping for like a simple walk, then returned home to see brother, who left home for more than a week.

he was so much thinner again, i afraid, and super worried that he’s kind of anorexia. with his girlfriend too.

i slept super late as i have to try all the chocolate while searching on what coffee to try tasting on, as i wanna look like a grown up,

not always ordering water, but i hate wine, real wine instead of wine in chocolate rum cake or tiramisu, so i want to learn loving coffee,

i guess i’ll try latte first, then mocha and cappuccino, i’ve checked their calories, cappuccino contains most foamed milk, so it was lightest.

while having the strongest coffee taste, you can say sometime bitter and sour. latte is having more milk while mocha is having the sweetness from chocolate, so different coffee shop has different calorie, but mostly, mocha is the fattest.

i like foam more than milk, as every coffee i drink, it has to be soya milk, soy milk? i don’t want so much soy flavor makes the coffee tasted like plain tofu.

simplylife bakery brownie and bread pudding

as i promised to write a review on simplylife, i HAVE TO do this, so sad.

i am so sleepy now.

the half portion brownie was hk$13 which’s actually quite expensive as the full portion is actually hk$25, oh one cheating bakery again.

no, i mean, it was absolutely super tasty, from my memory. i’ve bought the full portion last time, extremely tasty, so i went back for half a portion again.

but this time it was super different!!! i thought their baker did go away. they used the same recipe but the walnut was less oily,

the whole thing was smelling so good that the wrapping didn’t work on preventing the good smell leaking out, UM…SO GOOD:)

the brownie was actually a little sweeter than last time, while the most different part was actually, the texture.

strange, this one was not actually i can called it a brownie, as it was actually totally melting, not because of the hot weather(yes it was real hot, but that can’t cause that)…Image

the top was still crispy and yes, real having a top, and also a nice cake-y bottom, but the center was real melting.

that was not so good.

i loved brownie as what it is, but this’s absolutely not a brownie. i guess the baker put too much butter and so as the mixture turned too wet,

then he reduced the amount of egg to prevent the chocolate-y lowers. nice walnut amount and size, but i was really looking like eating a drink,

that was real liquid-y. yes that was that seriously melting, but taste was good. and the second thing i bought with it was a full portion of bread pudding hk$15,

with two portions of vanilla creme for the bread pudding. i finally end up with drinking all the creme without using them as a dressing, as the bread pudding was good enough by itself,

so i can be like having three desserts instead of only one. the creme was so smooth, bit too sweet, of course as that’s supposed to be just a dressing,

no vanilla seeds at all but still nice, the essence flavor is not too overwhelming:) so nice and vanilla-y.

i loved it better than custard actually. the bread pudding was made with their un-sold bread from their own bakery,

they sprinkled white sugar on top of the bread pudding, while the egg works SO WELL with the cream/milk for the pudding,

i believed the center part was real made with just the softer part of un-sold part, as it was really soft, instead being like the top layer.

between the crunchy top layer and the super moist center part, there was many other ingredients, which i loved very much and makes the bread pudding super suitable for a breakfast.

thursday’s happenings

today was all the day raining and i’m always specially hungry during rainy days. today was not what special—I ATE A LOT, wow.

loads of apples, REALLY, i can’t even count, but so many whole apples with skin on, and i ate lots of almonds, roasted with salt,

i also ate my scrambled veggies and thee microwaved egg whites. i add in some protein muffins with spiced apples and bananas.

then i went out after a movie, for buying cakes for tonight’s late night snack, i planned to go tsim sha tsui for good ones,

but i found my time not so available, so i went to kowloon tong which’s so much nearer to my home, yes. i went to festival walk, AGAIN.

not page one this time, i went straight up to the top floor, for simplylife bakery. still as many people queuing as usual, but i went into the bakery part,

so i actually not need much waiting, still some, A BIT.

the staffs are not so kind, they walked so fast that they nearly knocked me down, some ladies are there choosing puff pastry, but i have no interest on those.

i picked half size brownie for hk$13 and a “just-baked” bread pudding full size for hk$15. the total of what i got was hk$28, while the staffs seemed not so satisfied with my bill(huh?then how much do u need me to buy?)Image

she gave me a small tub of sauce for the bread pudding, and i asked for two portions of that, i said, “may i please have two portions of custard please?”

wha’st so strange is she then packed me a custard puff bread. i immediately repeat what i’ve said, and she put that down and gave me another pack of sauce,

while saying,”ms., this is not custard at all, this is a vanilla creme for the bread pudding, and please be careful for the  caring before you safely return home.” wow.

the review of that two products will appear in the next posts, and now i’ll continue with what happen next. i passed by moms office and dropped down the octopus,

but mom’s still mad when i phoned her, as ” i phoned her too late”, yes maybe….sigh…..i returned home and freeze the bread pudding with sauces,

but i kept my brownie in a brown box in room temperature. i trust brownie is a baked good which should be stored NOT IN FRIDGE is it?

quite a loser—some wrong changes

can i say total disappointment just becuz of the high price hk$48 each? Gianduja hazelnut tart, which i really got high expectation on it, so bad.

Gianduja is a hazelnut-infused preparation of chocolate. those hazelnut pieces on the tart provided a crispiness which obviously let me think of Ferrero Rocher, but what for to pay hk$48 for that then?

i love the appearance of the opera cake as it’s ORIGINALLY so modern with the two STANDING chocolate thins, squeezed in a golden shining line(i can’t taste any special, just some visual creativity i think).Image

opera is well known with almond cake mixed with coffee(espresso is a must? i’m not quite sure), with coffee buttercream and chocolate ganache layers.

so to be clear, tiramisu is loved by me becuz of the wine and opera was REAL LOVEd by me becuz of the coffee. true statment this is.

chocolate thins were nice, thin is not easily melted with a right sweetness, but the opera was WAY TOO SWEET, so sweet that i think i did eat some real sugar which’s not yet melted,Image

while the coffee infused into almond cake and coffee buttercream were at the same time without any espresso-y taste and giving such a sugar-y taste.

really feel like scooping spoonfuls of sugar into my mouth.Image

the chocolate ganache is still smooth enough, rich but still too sweet, as i ate it quite right from the fridge, the whole cake was quite so harder than usual opera, 

like cutting the cake with a bit of strength. ENERGY NEEDED!?Image

back to the tart, the second mouthful was so much different. no longer like Ferrero Rocher, but still not good, the layer between chocolate ganache and chocolate tart base was what i got on top of the tart, CREAM. yuck!!!! what the hell is the chef thinking? cream in tart and top if tart?Image

i am really angry about why the chef have to change their formula to a lighter version. people choosing chocolate tart NEEDS a rich chocolate tart.

a fat football boy doesn’t want three pieces of carrot shreds. Image

way too light for the texture of cream, while the taste is not at all rich with too much sweetness, not at all the theme of chocolate tart,

but the chef did play on texture for the toppings.

the mixed nuts were added in the middle of the tart, also on top, while the toppings also got several broken sizes.

the golden crispy rice was cute, but not bringing what fun nor joy, just again, VISUAL impact without taste!?Image

cocoa powder on top is absolutely not enough, i loved the amount on the chocolate sin cake from ruth’s chris, i need much cocoa powder to balance the usual sweetness of usual chocolate cake.

how come hk-ers love sugar that much?!!!!:(

Gianduja chocolate tart, dolce 88, disappionting

today i went to JW dolce 88 and i’ve promised to make a post, here it comes!!:)

i never expect there’ll be such a beautiful fridge with different yogurt cups, fruit salad(hk$38, wow!!!) and juices, sandwiches.

i guess i would love to try the granola berries yogurt cup instead of the other two as i don’t like mango  at all.

as every items are all hk$48, i would never order strawberry shortcake in cup dessert form, but i LOVED to try tiramisu and chestnut creme cup next time.

maybe during half price between 8:30pm~9:00pm, i wanna date someone to go with me!!:)

they have several new items today, like opera cake and blueberry mousse cake,

but as i hate special shape cakes like that signature vanilla strawberry cake or that heart shape blueberry mousse, so i did choose one new item which’s the opera slice, and one stable, chocolate tart.

the plastic bag was same as the mandarin hotel’s version, and the box was also less beautiful.

what i mean was, yes, it did show some modern feelings, but it was so difficult to be opened,then the paper texture will make lots of ugly lines, you can’t really reuse this box then:(

two cakes was hk$96, while the ladies did use stickers for trying their best to make the two pieces of art stay well back home, 

unfortunately, they really broke, yes my heart broke at the same time, so sad.Image

eating is like love? maybe, for sift’s cupcakes and pastries and also LGB’s cakes and macaroons. sorry, i can tell you guys now,

none of the cakes i chose was satisfying, not by mean of hunger level, just by state of tastiness, this is REAL SAD u know that?!:( a cake shop making disappointing cakes.

i believe they changed their recipe for the chocolate tart, as what i read from the reviews from internet was saying the top was a truffle texture truffle taste thing, 

but what i got was totally a chocolate cream,Image

whipped cream texture whipped cream taste. sad, even out of chocolate-ty, just SIMPLE WHIPPED CREAM is what i got:(

and as the name was with “Gianduja”, i do expect only hazelnut, but what surprised me was it contains not only that, but also with PISTACHIO AND PUMPKIN SEEDS!!!Image

as i ate it at mid night two o’clock, i am OK if everything is mushy. but i got fresh mixed nuts and CRISPY biscuit base!!!:)

i do love the chocolate tart base, crispy, easy to be cut off, but will not broke into small dust, real good technique!!!

list and mom’s sickness

ok. this’ll be my last post having unrelated photos. i just want to talk about my list of untried cakes while this last set of unused pics.

first it comes tiramisu. it’s a tiramisu mascarpone cream with italian biscuits, mixed with dolce 88 signature espresso and layers of mascarpone zabaglione.

next comes a chestnut cake, which actually presented in a cup dessert way, named monte bianco, with candied chestnut which i love so much.

then it comes to strawberry shortcake, with layers of sponge cake with strawberries and whipped cream.

then i also wanna try their three choices of yogurt with fruit/granola, and also all of those mixed fruits without watermelon,

which my chinese doctor will be mad if she know i ate any kind of COLD melon which is so bad to a female’s body.

i also wanna try the strawberry yogurt cake from clover, which’s having a flowing center, like those mango lava cake.

for clover cakes, i would love to try also their chestnut tart while everybody is saying their tart base was such a good job,

if i have a chance i’ll too try their green tea brulee, which’s actually not really what a creme brulee, instead, actually a mousse cake,

also having lots of positive reviews saying that green tea is at a good point with rich tea flavor but at the same time right sweetness:)

and not i wanna say, my mom finally got celiac disease too. sad. during dinner time, she had less and less rice nowadays,

so i ask about what’s going on her. she told me those bread, egg, milk in her breakfast while egg on toast and oatmeal were served, she felt extremely sick.Image

so i told her to stop these allergic foods for a while like me, then slowly take some by bit and bit, and try to include them back into the diet slowly.

earl grey jelly cake? what the?

whether you can notice, i actually not yet review on the earl grey mousse cake, what i read about it was “great improvement of maxim” so i chose that.

but i was disappointed. not at all having tea leaves as what i’ve read,Image

the mousse part is like jelly texture, not at all smooth mousse, never  reaching silky nor rich,Image

it was something look like milk tea but chewing like jelly.Image

the chocolate was fake, too sweet, but the chocolate cream was good,Image

the mousse was quote ok while eating with the double layer of chocolate cake,Image

which’s not at all chocolate-ty but still good for it’s moist enough.

between layers of chocolate cake, there was a thin layer of cream which i usually hate,

but that one did a good job to smooth-en the jelly-y mousse.

bad mousse will usually show bubbles holes while this’s clearly having large holes,

and for the biscuit bottom, it was way worse than the one in cheesecake from their shop,

this one was not pastry but ordinary biscuit, while being made very badly.

it was wet, not of water but of oil, maybe melted butter, but too oily until it actually got a bad smell making you have no appetite.

i picked up all the chocolate cream, and also the sponge cake with cream, finally leaving the “mousse” there and throw it lastly.

as i still got a lot of cheesecake photos, now i can make a post not about food!!! here comes a self-esteem post!!!Image

today i was quite late for my visa taking, so i can’t quite choose what clothes to put on, i grab a black trousers and a purple shirt.

when i walked on the street, i found myself look SUPER FAT, even fatter than how fat i already am:( then i started to look down as before again,

to escape from the strangers’ looking, i even sweat so much for my nervousness. i hate to feel like that, having such a low self-esteem.

when i walked into the hotel, i even felt much fatter, and i was super afraid when i asked the ladies about where the cake shop is.

i entered the cake shop and felt so fat, too fat to buy cakes, i really walked forth and back before choosing cakes, becuz all the waitress serving there was ladies, three of them, Image

all very slim and have a confident smiling face. me? i just have right at amount hk$96 for choosing two cakes, and a “wanna-die-now” face.

i quickly picked what i’ve chose, put tiramisu and chestnut cake for next time’s list and leave the cake shop immediately.

while on the train, i also hide my bag of cakes as i worried slim girls will see that and say i am too fat for cakes. i also worried boys will have the same thoughts.

for parents, i worried they’ll say they’ll be heart broken if having such a “love-desserts” daughter, and having such much time for going everywhere finding good cakes:(

i really regret about doing things making myself feel such uncomfortable, as my other friends are planning for their trip or future studies,

or already working. one of my friend, heather, is now working in IFC pret a manger, WHICH’S once my FAVORITE shop having yogurt and sandwich,

to be specific, HUMMUS sandwich, you all know how much i love hummus!!! eating with spoon plain!!!:) i really hope i am as grown-up as her,

but i am still always staying in that cooking/eating/sleeping/playing computer level, which my bowling is even improving in such a SLOW speed:(

WIAW—JW dolce 88 cakes

today our building was going on a electricity DOWN, so i can’t use computer, air-con, television, and also, there’s no water supply:(

i woke up with such a hot weather and ate two apples for something cool as i’ve no chobani left(i ate them all yesterday night, yes 300kcal three tubs):(

after the two apples, i started to analyse my future PALEO plan, like adding in cakes and tomato, also berries and brussels sprouts,

but deleting rice and chickpeas, also stop eating too much oranges and apples.( yes i know i told you i ate two apples this morning):(

then i start cooking what i’ve prepared(soak, cut and wash, then freeze) last night, i throw into the wok with first boiling water,

then i added in sliced onion and the total amount of onion is actually two middle size ones, while boiling, i cut the HUGE brussels sprouts into half(i found cutting into quarter is avoiding the caramelizing part, i love sugar form mother natural you know that)

that’s a total of ONE WHOLE POUND OF brussels sprouts which i bought from taste in festival walk, a whooping 455G FOR JUST HK$32.9!!!!

yes after cutting everything is really cooked, so i throw in cauliflower and lastly broccoli, total nearly two heads(i save from cauliflower for katie to cook the family dinner)

everything was done and i store them into three large container, and will divide into four times to indulge, as the veggie i chose this time was all so high in calories:(Image

i ate one portion before going to take my done student visa, and it was SO SUPER TASTY!!! i will really love brussels sprouts forever…more than broccoli, even.

today was so hot, and i sweat really SO MUCH THAT everything i wear on my body was like soaking into water, but when i arrive the visa place, i got things done very fast and leave:)

two fathers asked me about things for studying abroad, while this is actually my first time leaving hong kong for studies, maybe taking visa alone is a grown up act.

after that, i went to JW hotel for their dolce 88, WHILE THEY REALLY SERVE A LOT OF COOK BOOKS/lifestyle(still about food)magazines!!!Image

i have really no time to read them, so i just picked up two cut cakes for take away, the girls are so kind and friendly, though the cakes are so expensive they actually “need” to have that service.

i took chocolate tart and the new item opera cake which i’ll do the review later, i went home and they’re all broken becuz of the heat and movement inside MTR, sad. 

i ate one apple and will have bunch of katie’s veggies for dinner, then one of those cakes for late night snack, yes do you also take cake as a snack?:)
